define and identify a particular problem or scenario within an organisation or sector that
you are familiar with, regarding the management and utilisation of facilities management (FM) information
and processes. This may relate to one particular company and/or sector, or a comparison of different
companies/sectors.

In order to analyse the issue, you are required to produce a portfolio of evidence, compiled in a report
format that includes:

1. A critical review of relevant methods, theories and techniques for managing FM information and
processes. This should include the application of relevant and pertinent policies, processes and/or
examples from industry and practice relating to the management of data.
2. Analysis of how current industry policy and practice for managing FM information can enhance
organisational performance, and illustrate your report with relevant examples.
3. Evaluation of the key impacts of managing FM information on the whole life cycle of buildings.
Again, this should include relevant the application of policies, processes and/or examples from
industry and practice.
Your final write-up should be submitted in a report format and no more than 2500 words (excluding
references and appendices).

Marking criteria

1. Critically review methods, theories and techniques for managing FM information and processes. Please illustrate with relevant examples and references. 30%

2. Critically analyse the impact of FM information and data systems on organisational performance. Please illustrate with relevant examples and references. 30%

Critically evaluate the impact and use of FM information and data on a buildings whole lifecycle. Please illustrate with relevant examples and references. 30%
